KANSAS CITY AIRPORT INFO
Kansas City International Airport is located 15 miles northwest of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Over 11 million passengers used this airport in 2016. The two largest carriers are Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines. The three passenger terminals have a unique design in the shape of rings, with short-term parking in the center. This allows people to park, walk perhaps a hundred feet, and arrive at their gate. Arriving passengers can leave their gate and walk immediately to their car without traveling through any corridors. While there are no "people-movers" connecting the three rings, there are a fleet of free buses which transport passengers between the terminals. The location of the airport makes it rather inconvenient for pubic transportation, and so most travelers end up renting a car to get into Kansas City itself. Shuttle buses pick up passengers and take them to the car rental facilities located on the airport property. The greatest inconvenience at Kansas City Airport is the lack of adequate restroom facilities once you get past security. Many passengers have to go through TSA security twice to find an available facility.
