Bristol Airport Guide

If you’re a traveller departing from South West England, Bristol Airport offers a convenient departure point with great amenities and smaller crowds than the massive London airports.

The #1 Reason to Fly Through Bristol Airport
Tired of battling long queues and huge crowds at Gatwick and Heathrow? 25-gate Bristol Airport, while still the ninth busiest airport in the UK, draws one-sixth the passengers of Gatwick and less than one-tenth the volume of Heathrow. So getting through the airport is quick and easy.

The #1 Annoyance at Bristol Airport
Unfortunately, Bristol Airport has neither an on-site rail link nor easy car access from the M5. If you’re travelling by train, the Bristol Airport Flyer coach is the only express connection between Bristol Temple Meads station and Bristol Airport; it takes approximately 30 minutes to travel between the two locations and runs as frequently as every 8 minutes, 24 hours a day. By car, you’ll have to take the A38 more than 16 miles off the M5 to reach the airport.

I’m Here, Now What?
If you prefer to travel as comfortably as possible, then you may wish to take advantage of the amenities at the Aspire Executive Lounge, including complimentary drinks, snacks and Wi-Fi. The Lounge has separate areas for business travellers and families so that corporate fliers can work in peace and kids can be kids.

For the shoppers, Bristol Airport offers a variety of stores to explore, including WHSmith, Superdrug, and Claire’s Accessories. If you’ve forgotten your headphones or the iPad you promised your niece for her birthday, Dixons Travel Store boasts better-than-internet prices on premium electronics.

In addition, the World Duty Free shop offers fragrances, spirits, cosmetics, tobacco, fashion accessories and more at prices much lower than high street shops. You can even pamper yourself with a complimentary makeover in the luxury cosmetics department! Concerned that your shopping appetite might be bigger than your bags? You can shop before your outbound flight and they’ll hold your purchases until you come back through the airport on your way home.

I’m Hungry, Now What?
Coffee lovers, delight! You won’t fall asleep on your flight out of Bristol Airport, thanks to the four coffee shops there: Caffè Ritazza and Soho Coffee Co. before security, and a second Soho and Starbucks in the terminal. If you’re thirsty for something a little less stimulating, Bar Zero9 offers local pints and a great variety of bar foods, while The Wine & Deli Bar offers travellers a wide range of wines, delicious small plates and deli choices made with local produce, and a haven for afternoon tea. When you’ve got a bigger appetite to satisfy and time to sit down, head to Dexters on the mezzanine level for a full service restaurant experience.

Other Things To Know
For a small surcharge, you can pre-pay for the Fast Track security channel and receive priority security clearance, giving you less time waiting in the queue and more time to explore the airport.

Wi-Fi is offered free at the airport. If you’re in need of currency exchange, the Moneycorp on-site at the airport offers commission-free exchanges at competitive rates.
