We have parked here several times on trips and have always had a positive experience.
This particular lot will not open its gate without an attendant. The ticket booth says to enter credit card to release the gate but we prepaid. Second time now that no one was available and had to wait to be let out of the lot.
If you park more than 30 minutes early or late they charge you for a full extra day. I arrived 45 minutes earlier than I expected and parked anyway in order to make the next shuttle. I thought I may have to pay for an extra hour or something but upon returning I was asked to pay for the price for a full extra day. Just be sure to set apart extra time.
We have parked here before and had no problems. When we arrived at 6:40 am there was no attendent and the garage was closed even though it said it was open at 6:00 am. We called the Crowne Plaza number and they let us park in their garage...Thankful to Crowne Plaza for allowing us to park there.
Both the parking lot attendant and the shuttle driver were great. The parking lot was very convenient and we hope to use it in the future. Thanks1
Will use again in travels out of Dulles.
Parked at hotel because flights were early and late. This is our 4 or 5 time using this location. Will use again.
Parking garage is a block away from hotel where the shuttle leaves. You have the option of riding the shuttle between the garage and the Crown Plaza hotel where the shuttle leaves for the airport. When the parking garage attendant is not at the garage, you have to deal with the hotel front desk to enter/leave the garage. In the cases with no attendant, a phone number is posted at the entrance to contact the parking system but they just refer you back to the hotel front desk (a block away) with a different, local phone number. It seems the parking garage is usually attended but if not, you'll need extra time to work all of this out. Shuttle runs every 30 minutes between the hotel and the airport.
The shuttle runs every 30 minutes so waiting can be a problem but given everything wait times are almost to be expected. The OVERALL wait for using the service adds about 45 minutes which is not good but the services provided by staff are exceptional.
No problems and I like the covered parking. The garage being a couple of blocks from the hotel was a minor annoyance but the staff was pleasant and transportation from and to the garage was good.
Going fine. Coming back TERRIBLE. I called, told them I was at airport at 2H, told me they were on their way, 45 minutes later I took a hotel shuttle for a hotel that is across the street from parking garage and walked. NEVER AGAIN.
Great experience and price was lower than surrounding lots
Great place to park.
You park in the lot at Herndon Park 'n' Fly and then are shuttled to the Crowne Plaza Hotel to ride that shuttle to the airport. No big disconnect here. Coming from the airport is a different story. Instructed to tell the CPH driver where I was parked so that I would be dropped off at the lot. Didn't happen -- hotel shuttle went right to the hotel and I had to walk back to the lot, crossing a four lane divided road in the process.
First time parking in the parking garage next to Kohl's department store. The advantage is the secure parking garage safe from elements. The disadvantage is we had to wait couple of minutes to get access to the parking garage. Then we had to take our luggage from the garage to the hotel across the street with a van and from there to the airport with another van. This took about 45 minutes in total. If you are running late, you may not make your flight. We had plenty of time, so no worries. On the way back, we waiting about 15 minutes for the van from the hotel. But it did take us to the garage directly. Both leaving and returning flights were around 5PM. The traffic was not a big deal from the hotel to the airport at that time. Over all a good experience at a decent price.
A cheaper way to park at Dulles. This is helpful when making a long trip.
We parked here for 19 days beginning Labor Day weekend, 2016. Finding the garage was super easy and quick off of the toll road. Upon arrival the attendant checked us in, and loaded our bags into the shuttle van (wife stayed behind). I went and parked the car anyplace of my choosing in the deck. The attendant then whisked us across the street to the Crowne Plaza. We had to wait about 10min or so, in the nice lobby for the Crowne Plaza shuttle to depart. They dropped us right at our airline's check-in at the Dulles terminal. Upon returning we had to hustle down to the pick up area 2H which is basically all the way down to the right, if exiting the bag claim and facing the road. We were traveling internationally and came out at 1C, so was a long jaunt, the only unpleasantness of the experience. The van leaves at :15 and :45 so we hustled and made the 8:15p shuttle. The driver saw us coming and waited for a minute. Which was greatly appreciated as we had to drive back to Richmond that night. He then took us directly to Crowne Plaza. No issues on the return. I didn't call the shuttle from the parking deck to get us, as I left my wife with the luggage in the hotel lobby and walked the 3-5minutes myself to get the vehicle. Parking deck is secure with an attendant on duty and gates down across the entry by the booth. The stair entry is one way, from inside the parking structure so any riff raff would have to walk past the attendant to get in, which is hopefully a deterrent. Parking deck is large, well lit and clean. Neighborhood was mainly hotels and retail. Will park here again for our next trip out of Dulles.
Will definitely use again
Airport to lot shuttle runs every 30 minutes. So on average, expect to wait 15 minutes. I happened to just miss one and had to wait a full 30 minutes. Driver was nice and very helpful. Parking lot attendant was efficient, but not very cheerful.
I like that the garage is covered--nice in hot weather and a real plus, no doubt, in winter. However, overall the savings are less than they seem to be--tax/fees are added onto the quoted rate, plus, if you're coming west from DC, you have to pay a toll to get to Herndon (no toll to go straight to Dulles). Attendants and shuttle drivers are very nice, but the shuttle wait is longer than for other hotels, and you feel like you should tip the driver for the baggage. Between taxes, toll, and tip, I probably won't do this again, unless I'm traveling in the winter.
