The Airport

LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is located just eight miles from midtown Manhattan, New York. It is one of the most important domestic airports in the country. As it has a perimeter rule in place, it can only deal with incoming and outgoing flights that do not exceed 1500 miles in distance. This means that most international or transcontinental flights go from nearby JFK or Newark instead. LaGuardia is located in the borough of Queens and popular destinations include places in the US and Canada as well as flights to Aruba, Bermuda and the Bahamas, which run on a seasonal basis.

LaGuardia Airport Parking

Airport parking is an important albeit dull issue that many travelers need to consider when they are due to fly. When it comes to parking at LaGuardia, passengers have the choice of either using the LaGuardias own parking facilities or using off-site lots situated close to LGA. If you are parking at LaGuardia airport, then you will find both long term and short term parking, the latter mostly used by business travelers. You will also find handicap parking options for people with disabilities, as well as hourly parking for visitors and collecting arriving passengers. As there is nowhere for cars picking up or dropping off passengers to stop, these drivers are strongly recommended to make use of either the hourly parking or short term parking facilities at LGA. There are also many options for passengers looking to save money on parking and park at indepdently owned off-site parking lots. You can reserve off-site parking online before you travel and there are both long and short term options available. Such off-site lots often offer great savings on the cost of parking and they also offer airport shuttle buses to take passengers from the lot to the relevant terminal at the airport.

LaGuardia Airport Transportation

There are multiple options for transport at the airport, and you can find lots of information on transportation choices at the Welcome Center, which is located in the Central Terminal at LGA. There are many hotels in the area that offer shuttle buses to and from LaGuardia. Alternatively, you can chose from a number of well regarded airport shuttle companies for LaGuardia Airport that will be able to pick you up from your home, office or hotel. A shared-ride shuttle often works out to be the most cost-effective option, but you can also use private van shuttles for your party if you prefer. When it comes to traveling around in the airport, LGA offers an inter-terminal bus service. Route A covers all of the terminals, and Route B serves all terminals with the exception of the Marine Air Terminal and the Delta Shuttle. The airport bus runs every 10-15 minutes throughout the day. If you are traveling to or from Manhattan, then there is also a bus service you can use that serves the Borough of Queens. There is also a bus every 30 minutes that will take you to mid-town Manhattan, plus taxis, limos and rental cars if you prefer. Details of these can be found at the Welcome Center.

LaGuardia Airport Hotels

If you are planning to stay overnight either before or after your flight from LaGuardia Airport, then there is a good selection of accommodation in the immediate area for you to choose from. There are currently more than 10 hotels within 5 miles of LaGuardia that also offer shuttle buses to take you to and from the airport.

LaGuardia Airport Terminals

There are four passenger terminals at LaGuardia Airport. They are called Central Terminal, Marine Air Terminal, US Airways Terminal and Delta Terminal. They are located near to the airport parking facilities and if you need to travel between them, or to elsewhere in the airport, you can use one of the free airport shuttle buses. The terminals all feature food and drink services and others also offer retail options, as well as passenger information services and passenger lounges. The facilities on offer depend on which terminal you are traveling from. To the right you'll see a Laguardia Airport terminal map.

LaGuardia Airport is a busy domestic airport that is well-placed in terms of its proximity to Manhattan. It is also useful for passengers needing to transfer to Newark or JFK and there is a good range of passenger facilities on offer.
